In terms of weather-related incidents, more people are killed or injured per year due to lightening strikes than anything else. The reason that this is not so well known is that, unlike this incident, usually only one or two people are involved and it never makes the national press, yet the figures add up year after year. And while golfers are particularly at risk, anyone who works out doors, such as farmers and construction workers, are at risk this time of the year when fast moving storms roll across the landscape.
