Absolutely true, ribit ... it most certainly is a way of transfering family wealth (and creating future family wealth generating skills) to your kids without getting slammed by the tax code. If I simply transfer family wealth to them in the form of cash or a house, then ... depending on the amounts ... the gift tax can come into play.

...rich folks get to pay their kids way to college, kid don't have to pay taxes on the value of the education. Give your kid some money to buy a house or go into business and da gubmint will be right there with their hand out. I don't begrudge em what they get, Im just annoyed with the gubmints understanding of things.
