There's often a speed trap (radar) shortly before the turnoff into my neighborhood. Consequently, I wait until I see that some cars are approaching on the curved road, then make the turn across their lanes v-e-r-y s-l-o-w-l-y, forcing them to slow down to avoid me.
I found this to be far more effective than flashing my headlights. Too many drivers don't react to headlights by braking, and even those who DO, don't do so in the critical couple of seconds before they're in view of the police.
I've had fantasies of doing what this citizen did. I guess now I know what would happen.

A woman in Houston, Texas, was arrested and jailed for 12 hours after she held up a make-shift sign to warn drivers about a speed trap.
Natalie Plummer was officially charged with walking in the roadway -- jaywalking, essentially -- though she says the police officers who arrested her were just angry that she had tipped off speeders.
Miss Plummer was riding her bicycle along a road near downtown Houston on Thursday when she spotted police officers pulling drivers over.
