We slept in this morning, getting up at 6 AM instead of our usual 3:30. Lucy the cat woke us then but we rolled over and went back to sleep after staying up late until 10:30 PM watching our beloved St Louis Cardinals lose to the Miami Marlins 3-2. We normally go to bed around 7 PM when baseball is not involved.
The days are beginning to get noticably shorter now as we are past the summer solstice and the sun is beginning to retreat back to the south. It will be 105 degrees here again today but a cold wave is coming through in the next few days. We desperately need rain here as everything is dead and the farmmers are plowing under their crops.
Lucy the cat is asleep in one of her cardboard boxes as we write this and she shows no signs of coming out anytime soon. We are going to get dressed now and go out to Bob Evans restaurant for a spot of blueberry pancakes before we retreat back into the air conditioning in preperation for watching the Cardinals again this afternoon.
Right now we are going to do what Forrest Gump told one of our presidents after we hydrated ourselves with plenty of water and V-8 Juice earlier.
