Mitt Romney: I'm Fighting 'Uphill Battle' With Some In The Media

07/10/2012

Mitt Romney said on Tuesday that he is fighting an "uphill battle" for fair coverage with some media outlets.

Romney's complaint came during a town hall session in Colorado. He was asked about media bias by a potential voter.

"Now and then I'm fighting an uphill battle in some organs of the national media," he said, according to NBC producer Scott Foster.

Politico caught the rest of Romney's comments, as he said that, thanks to the proliferation of media, he was "able to communicate broadly to the American people, not just one or two networks or more but instead to a whole host of vehicles."

Romney has made similar remarks before. In April, he quipped that a "vast left-wing conspiracy" in the media was working against him, adding, "Many in the media are inclined to do the president's bidding and I know that's an uphill battle we fight with the media generally."

But like much of what's coming from the Romney campaign, this claim is based on a long held myth...

And it wasn't much different back in 2008 either...
