Same exact thing happened to me about 3 years ago with my Chevy Blazer. I never knew to try any sort of extraordinary wheel wrenching. But in end it cost less than I was originally quoted to fix it, they didn't need to issue me a new key and I haven't had any problems since.

Aghhh... Came back to the F150 in the Target parking lot in Santa Rosa, doors unlocked, but the key would not release, turn... It's so automatic, hard to believe it's not working! Tried wiggling the steering wheel, jiggling the shifter, jiggling the key, nothing... Gave up, called AAA... Truck w/tech on the way, 20 minutes out...

So, open the iPhone browser, Google, "2006 F150, key won't turn".. 2nd entry.. try putting hard pressure to turn left on the steering wheel, hold it, keep trying the key.. Well, there was no give to the wheel at all at first, solid as a rock... But, after a minute, it let loose, the key turned, engine starts! Success!! Google is Great! Called AAA back, cancel the callout..

Turns out if you are turning the wheels as you turn the engine off, the power steering pump can kick a little extra pressure in, and do this... Crazy! But nothing wrong, but a bit of strength needed to put the pressure on, let it release! Now we know...
