KTC> Don't really fault the FDA though. The pharma companies have big bucks to spread around Washington.
Don't fault the FDA, KTC?
The FDA is a LOT of the problem - particularly with
shortages and skyrocketing prices.

FDA gives reasons to end it and all the agencies like it
July 13th, 2011
I say, and Woods says, it’s just another bureaucracy that does more harm than good, is captured by the industry it is supposed to be regulating, is lazy, incompetent, obstructionist, and its people often seek to go to work for the companies they are supposed to be regulating. America would have been better off by a large margin if the FDA had never existed and we will be better off when the bond market forces us to shut it down in the not-too-distant future.
I won’t recite the arguments in favor of the FDA. You already know them.
The 7/13/11 Wall Street Journal has an article titled “Drug shortages are affecting many hospitals.”
I instantly thought, “Aha! The FDA strikes again.” Sure enough, they were in the story.
. . .
First, understand that in a free market, every product that can be produced and sold at an adequate profit will be. There is no shortage of unregulated products like tee shirts or baseballs or frying pans. Doesn’t matter whether it’s a patented product or a generic one. All shortages that last more than a few days are caused by the government.
Think about it. What country was famous for long lines for everything? The Soviet Union, a Communist, Marxist, dictatorship.
When was the last time you stood in a line? It was probably at a government agency or heavily regulated business.

This is another example of what I was explaining in my article, “Liberals do not understand the meaning of the word ‘if.’”
Liberals pass laws like:
• you have to sell generic drugs cheap if you want to sell them to the federal government
• you have to build your factory to our high standards if you want to sell to the federal government
• you have to notify the federal government in advance if you make generic drugs and are going to stop or run out
Liberals think such laws cause the manufacturers to sell cheap, build better factories, and give advance notice.
Nope. I say those laws make the manufacturers look for better things to do. The word “if” means the manufacturers have two choices: stay in the business and comply with the new law or get out of the business and go to greener pastures. Liberals think businesses are static like the ocean or the sun. They can do whatever they want to them and they will always still be there. Nope. If you screw business, it will depart for more hospitable industries or countries or whatever it takes. Adequate profit and return on investment are the raison d’être of business. Take them away and the business will go away, along with its jobs, products, and taxable profits.

KillTheCat,
What is it about the section I separated with '***'
that liberals find impossible to understand?
Zim.
Mad Poet Strikes Again.
