Muffin is dancing on the head of a pin, this isn't going to go away unless he releases his taxes during 2000, 2001 & 2002, at the very least.

“The Obama campaign is not satisfied with Romney’s answer. They still want to see Romney’s tax returns as well as minutes from Bain meetings,” NBC White House correspondent Kristen Welker reported. From Obama’s camp, Welker said: “We expect the American people would want to see more information.”

...
Romney also said he wouldn’t release any more than two years worth of his tax returns. He has already released returns for 2010, and has said he will release his 2011 returns once he files them (he has asked for an extension). Democrats have been hammering him on the issue, suggesting he is hiding something; even some Republicans have called on Romney to put them out in the open.

“I have already put out one year of tax returns. We will put out the next year of tax returns as soon as the accountants have that ready, and that’s what we’re going to put out,” Romney told CNN. “I know there will always be calls for more.”

He added: “People always want to get more. We’re putting out what is required plus more that is not required, and those are the two years people are going to have.”

A paragraph from the link helps explain why the Romney campaign has been so quiet. (at least in Ma.)

Most of the money that Mr. Romney has raised in the last several months can be used only in the general election, which begins after the party’s national convention this summer, the sources said. The long and contentious Republican primary drained Mr. Romney of much of the money he could spend before then.

That has left Mr. Romney somewhat short of cash, though the campaign is broadcasting advertisements this week slamming Mr. Obama for misleading attacks.
