We were in a 'special' basic training company, before the Vietnam War heated up. All had advanced degrees - None were headed for the infantry. They just wanted to cycle us through with as little fuss as possible. We were called "Mother Company". We obviously were delighted with our treatment, and cooperated 100% with our captors. We didn't need our DIs to slap around our miscreants.
