11 Killed in Pickup-Truck Crash
A pickup truck filled with 23 people was thrown off a highway when one of its tires apparently blew out, killing at least 11 people and injuring the 12 others as it crashed into trees. “This is the most people I’ve ever seen in any passenger vehicle, and I’ve been an officer for 38 years,” said the Texas Department of Public Safety’s spokesman. The truck’s driver was ejected in the crash, but survived. The names and ages of the victims are still unconfirmed, and the Department of Public Safety’s spokesman told The Associated Press, “It’s unknown whether or not (the victims) were illegal, but it’s possible.” The truck was apparently registered under the name of an owner in Houston.
