Raising taxes on the top 2% of households, as Mr Obama proposes, would bring in $34 billion next year: enough to cover nine days' worth of the deficit  

...but it would create the "Illusion" that the problem was resolved and obamba could go on another drunken sailor spending spree (no offense to drunken sailors intended here).

I think this tax increase on the alleged wealthy is more about getting even with people who are successful because of jealousy and envy than anything else.
