And exactly who's responsible for the "perception" that there is widespread voter fraud in America? Certainly it's not because of any evidence of such or the images of people being arrested and prosecuted for voter fraud or even a single election, at even the lowest municipal level, which has been overturned due to evidence of voter fraud. In fact there has been absolutely NOTHING that could be seen as creating the "perception of voter fraud" except for the paranoid rantings of Right-wing wackos and Faux News pundits. THAT'S the total extent of 'voter fraud' in America, a 'wet-dream' by Republicans as that's the only way they can negate the demographic trends which are at work in this country. If they let the status quo run it's course, they'll be relegated to being a permanent minority party with little or no hope of ever holding major national offices again.

...investigating and prosecuting voter fraud has more than one purpose. The first is to prevent voter fraud. The second and the most important is to maintain the confidence of the public in the electoral process. If the perception of voter fraud is prevalent, or even present, there is less likelihood that the people will recognize elections as being legitimate or support the government. Sooner or later, the losers will take to the streets and vote with bullets rather than ballots.
