...wrong again ocu. There's lots of ships in the navy that are not warships. I traveled to vietnam on a troop transport which was not a warship. Troop transports, docking ships, supply ships are pretty much shielded from combat. They can be and sometimes are hit by enemy fire, but they are not warships.

I think if you were to ask anyone who has ever had sea duty in the Navy, they would tell you that all US Navel vessels are 'warships'. Otherwise, why did we build them. And if you were to ask the Marines which would have been deployed from the Rushmore whether they were serving on a 'warship' I suspect that they would say that they were. Just because it didn't have 16 inch guns (as if any ship has anything like that anymore) doesn't mean that it wouldn't play a critical role during a time of war or that it wouldn't be subject to enemy fire during a navel engagement.
