We get some doozies once in a while in the Central Valley, Sierras. When we'd have early meetings, I'd drive over Sunday evening, I remember one of those was in the middle of a pretty widespread storm. Coming across the area near Davis, lightning strung out clear across the windshield, almost horizontal... Would have made a great photo, but it was log before digital... It kept it up quite a while... A noisy night in Sacramento...
Up in the Sierras/Yosemite it was a kick, if it only hit the rocks, not so bad, but sometimes a tree was the target, so instead of a blue/white flash, there was an orange glow as that poor tree exploded...
Locally pretty rare, don't want any now, fire danger is way up... 4500+ acres north of Napa and into Lake County is now 45% contained...
