MU poll shows Walker, Burke in tight race
Wisconsin's race for governor between incumbent Republican Gov. Scott Walker and Democratic rival Mary Burke remains tight, according to the Marquette University Law School poll released Wednesday.
Walker leads among registered voters 47.5% to 44.1%.
But among likely voters, Burke leads 48.6% to 46.5%.
"The litany you've heard for the last two polls in May and July is inside the margin of error," said Charles Franklin, director of the Marquette University Law School Poll.
"It's actually quite striking how little has changed."
The poll of 815 registered Wisconsin voters was conducted by interviews on cellphones and landlines Thursday through Sunday. The margin of error was plus or minus 3.5 percentage points.
Among those polled were 609 people who said they were registered and likely to vote. The margin of error on that sample was 4.1%.
The last two surveys showed a dead heat between the two.
In the last poll, among registered voters, Walker led Burke, 46% to 45%. Among likely voters, Burke led Walker, 47% to 46%.
