I agree totally, except that at the time that John McCain was born in the Canal Zone, there were NO laws which granted automatic citizenship to children of American's who were born overseas, irrespective of the situation. Until the law which eventually gave McCain his status as a 'natural born' citizen was enacted, children born in his situation had to go through the normal naturalization process like all other foreign born individuals who wished to become citizens. It was only after the Spanish American War when the US started to establish permanent military bases around the world where military families were permitted to live, such as on navel bases, that this was even seen as an issue. Until that time the actual number of children born to American citizens living outside the country was very small indeed.

Considering that both of McCain's parents were
American citizens, and McCain's father was an
American Serviceman serving in the Panama Canal
Zone - an American project. I'd have a very hard
time finding McCain - who also fought in Vietnam -
Not an American citizen.
Note: That does not alter the fact that I believe
McCain is a turd who was part of the 'Keating 5'
and that I don't like the idea of congress critters
in the White House.
