That's true for SoCal, but when we lived in West Bloomfield, MI, our kids did get both Christian and Jewish holidays off, but then the population of the community there was about 30% Jewish.

Hi Clo - By this,do you mean the schools were observing Jewish holidays, or was it the entire State of New York doing the "observing"?

I ask cause when I went to school in MD - we did not have any Jewish days off, and as far as I remember - here in SoCal - the schools don't let kids out for Jewish holidays. OCU may correct me if I'm wrong on this last.
