Note that I'm on the team which counts the Sunday collection at church (it falls on us about once every 8 or 9 weeks), Anyway, there are always at least 3 or 4 two dollar bills each week. However, this past weekend (it was our Sunday to count) we had something like 18 two dollar bills in the collection. Someone said it was because of the Chinese New Year. Apparently people think that two dollar bills are lucky and they give them to the kids during Tet (the Chinese New Year).
I've heard that bank tellers keep them around to throw into bank robbers loot to help trace it and also that that red dye stuff is attached to bundles of them that explodes in the loot bag and ruins the haul.
