Lawmaker Gave Away Adopted Daughters
Arkansas State Rep. Justin Harris said he “rehomed” two girls who suffered from reactive attachment disorder just six months after he adopted them out of fear that he would face abandonment charges. A Christian preschool teacher then got custody and was later arrested for allegedly raping one of them, a 6-year-old. A former babysitter for the Harris family told the Arkansas Times that one of the girls was kept isolated from the family for hours and monitored by video camera because the Harrises said they believed the girls were telepathic and possessed by demons. The Harrises deny the claim, saying that demons are not a part of their religious beliefs.
