This reminds me of an incident way back in the late 1970's, while
I was in the Army. We were all down in the com-shop one day, and
a black guy and a Puerto Rican got to fussing. The black guy
called the Puerto Rican a 'Spic' . . . Nobody seemed to think a
lot of it. So the Puerto Rican called the black guy the 'n-word' . . .
One would have thought somebody dropped a house on the black guy the way he started ranting and raving and carrying
on. After the Staff Sergeant got everything sorted out, I told him
the black guy called the Puerto Rican a spic first.
When one ethnic group seems to think they have a right to insult
other ethnic groups with impunity . . . and the other groups have to
right to insult them back . . .
Well, Decomposed called it accurately. Hypocrites.

It doesn't much bother me. Blacks call themselves "niggahs" every day. Their protests about the other version of the same word represent such a double standard that I don't take their complaints at all seriously. They've politicized the word to the point where their protests mean that they are nothing more than hypocrites.
"Hypocrite," by the way, is the most obscene name I think a person can be called - because it's not your skin color, your religion or your ethnicity. It's not WHAT you are, but WHO you are. It's far worse than any pejorative I can come up with for a person's ancestry or biology.
