The beauty of Super PACs is that they give candidates deniability. Candidates aren't allowed to tell "their" PACs what to do... which works to their advantage when they want to say they had nothing to do with scummy PAC behavior.
Trump doesn't have a PAC. He pays for everything himself. That's very honorable, but it puts him at a distinct disadvantage when things like the photo of Trump's wife surface. Cruz can deny having done it, and if Trump retaliates, Trump can't deny the retaliation.
But let me ask you: Who do you think was behind the photo of Trump's wife? I think it was Cruz's people. It could have been Hillary's too, but I think Cruz is the most likely culprit.
