I'm running windows 10 on this box . . .
(I have my old windows 7 on a spare drive so I can
go back.)

I don't like it very much.
Finding things like system settings used to be fairly
straightforward . . . not in windows 10.

(However, there is in the start menu a 'search computer
and windows - that seems to find what I'm looking for -
some of the time.)

On older systems, I stroke the windows key plus 'E'
and I would get the windows explorer with my drives
and USB sticks (and the CD/DVD if I have one in). This piece of garbage has :
. . . Downloads
. . . Desktop
. . . Documents
. . . This PC
. . . Pictures
Followed by four subdirectories I access regularly.
. . . Desktop
. . . Onedrive (Which I do NOT use.)

And then I get frequent folders and 20 recent files . . .

Look turds, when I go Windows-e all I want is my hard drives and USB sticks.

All that other junk, I either seldom need or I have
it on the desktop as shortcuts so I can access them easy. I don't need them cluttering up my disk access
window.

And then I'm pretty sure I told this piece of junque
I didn't want to use Cortana . . .
so, Ctrl-Shft-Esc and check the task manager and there
she is, just lurking in the background.

Not to mention that their newest 'web browser' didn't
bring all my old favorites over with it . . . so I've
gone back to Internet Explorer.

And, their 'new and improved' media player apparently
couldn't fathom that anybody might want to select a
bunch of songs and play all of them one after the
next - the ignorant piece of crap insisted on playing
just one song at a time. So I went back to Media Player
so's I could just select my songs, click 'Play' and the music
just plays on and on and on . . .

No, I don't like Windows 10 . . . But I am still test driving it.

Zim.

I just installed a tool to combat Microsoft's Windows 10 Adware. It's called the GWX Control Panel and, as you can see below, it has several options for keeping Windows 10 off of my computer. I've already disabled the 'Get Windows 10' app, which is why you only see an option to re-enable it.

It's easy to use and seems to work. If interested, you can download it here: http://ultimateoutsider.com/downloads/
