Sandy Hook Gunmaker Lawsuit Proceeds
A Connecticut Superior Court judge declined Thursday to toss out a lawsuit filed by families of Sandy Hook victims against a gun manufacturer. Judge Barbara Bellis found that a federal law that protects gun manufacturers from lawsuits doesn’t discount the “legal sufficiency” of the families’ claims—that Adam Lanza’s gun shouldn’t have been available for sale to civilians. In December 2012, Lanza killed 28 people at Sandy Hook Elementary, including 20 children, when he attacked the school with .22-caliber Savage MK II-F bolt action rifle.
