If we default on debt owed to foreign countries they will NEVER lend money to the US again.

...IMHO, we should never borrow money from them again. Living within your budget isn'a impossible. No nation or individual can spend themselves rich or borrow their way out of debt.

I'd guess that he's thinking more about our debt to foreign governments. In that case, he MIGHT be on to something.

If we default on debt owed to foreign countries they will NEVER lend money to the US again. That may be as big a benefit as the money we save not paying them back.
