De, your opening is spot on. Conservatives are no more interested in war"...than..

While true to a huge extent, it also partially is not.

Take it from people who actually were in a real war with real weapons and real enemies trying to kill you daily..
WAR is something only ever to be engaged in as a last resort. The grunts who do the dirty work and are the ones coming home to be buried at Arlington will all tell you.

That said, sometimes you just cannot avoid a confrontation. Then one has to decide what he/she stands for and as Kennedy put so well, ask what YOU can do for YOUR country. May I add also for your fellow citizen, your family, your neighbor.
When threatened physically it is time for action, not words. Meet deadly lethal force with the same. Do not over react.

But seriously, those who have been engaged in wars will tell you not to be in a hurry to go to war or be involved in one.

Not saying you are saying to.

Just letting folks know while it "sounds" cool, it really is not something anyone should want to do as a first resort.... Only if absolutely needs must be as a last resort....

I doubt it. There are just too many conservatives who have liberal children, siblings and in-laws. Conservatives have no more stomach for war than anybody else. You'll notice that most of the western countries have gone socialist and not many of them ever met with serious resistance to their moves in that direction.

We won't either.

Look at it this way: The conservatives of my parents' generation were both more plentiful and more inclined to fight to defend their rights than today's conservatives. But they never took up arms to stop society's push to the left.

It will continue that way. The ONLY thing that pushes liberalism out is economic collapse. When the economy collapses and government freebies go away, people either develop skills or die. People who have skills don't usually WANT government "freebies." They gain confidence in themselves and come to resent taxes and government invasions of their privacy.

But utter economic collapses are UGLY things. I'd almost rather have the civil war you describe - though I'm not as confident that conservatives would win such a war as some of the authors in the articles you post. It really boils down to what the military does. Whichever side controls most of the U.S. military is going to win a civil war. You can be sure of that.
