Feds: SF sheriff’s deputy gave gun to felon she was involved with
A San Francisco Sheriff’s deputy gave her department-issued pistol to a former inmate she allegedly had a relationship with, then claimed it was stolen in a robbery at her home that never happened, federal prosecutors said Friday.
April Myres, 52, filed a claim with her insurance company in March 2016 alleging the theft of her personal property — including Louis Vuitton, Chanel and Versace handbags, Gucci shoes, and her handgun — according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Northern District of California.
The gun turned up Thursday inside the car of the former inmate, Antoine Fowler, who was pulled over in Oakland by FBI SWAT agents, prosecutors said. A subsequent search by the FBI of Myres’ home uncovered a number of the items she had reported stolen, prosecutors said.
