WH Wants Bannon Pal to Review Intel
President Trump has asked a New York billionaire to conduct a review of U.S. intelligence agencies, The New York Times reports.
Trump ally Stephen A. Feinberg, who co-founded Cerberus Capital Management, would lead the review, but members of the intelligence community have reportedly expressed concern that such a probe would be counterproductive and eventually diminish information that contradicts Trump’s worldview.
Trump has blamed press reports on a leak-heavy intelligence community. Feinberg—who has close ties to controversial White House strategist Steve Bannon—has told his company’s shareholders that he will likely be joining the Trump administration, but the White House has not announced the decision.
The Times reports Feinberg’s potential review could be a method of grooming him to take on a position in one of the agencies.
