Actually, micro ... believe it or not ... I have been on my best behavior for years and years, now, with my wife's family, who are Democrats. For a long time, they would intentionally engage me, en masse, to stage a much needed (in their estimation, anyway) corrective, political intervention. However, by the end of these sessions, they were the ones who were frustrated, not me. Suffice it to say, they got tired of losing, and so, one of the siblings decided to call an official moratorium to such discussions - and I obliged - especially since I was never the instigator in the first place. However, a few years back, one of the siblings, out of the blue, started in on me at the Thanksgiving dinner table. I looked at him, smiled, said nothing, and continued to eat my dinner, which, I think, agitated him even more than if I had argued back. He was only a few minutes into this tirade, when the sister, who had called the official moratorium, looked at me and said, "You'll have to excuse my brother ... he's an asshole." Everybody laughed and the tirade ceased. I honor their wish to avoid talk of politics because I know, like most people, they don't like getting their asses handed to them ... and they are family, after all.

Yes, you make perfect sense and I, unfortunately, while KNOWING to keep my mouth shut, my opinions to myself, oft times wind up in the middle of a doo-doo pile because I simply cannot resist the temptation to express a dissenting opinion and offer some "facts" to some others who are of a different political persuasion.
This of course embarrasses Mrs. micro and later on when by ourselves is when I find it out and am reminded, yet again, it was not a good idea for me, but it felt really good at the time.... LOL!!!!
I think our personalities are somewhat similar and akin.
Speaking of which, do you get "THE LOOK" in some instances reminding you that while you are licking your chops to share some wisdom that you had best not?
AHHHHH, the fairer gender can say mountains without ever uttering a single syllable, much less an entire word....... And we know exactly what the LOOK means...
