Well,
I live very close to a golf course. And some creeks.
And I can't be certain that my neighbors are eradicating
the devil weed in their own yards.

Birds eat the berries with impunity . . .
Then they poop out the seeds . . .
And nature does its thing and I get baby poisonous ivyous plants to kill.

Zim.

It is true, the fruit and berries of the plant we love to hate are great fall and winter foods for a number of our favorite backyard birds including: the eastern bluebird, gray catbird, Carolina chickadee, American crow, northern flicker, dark-eyed junco, eastern phoebe, sparrows (fox, white-crowned, and white-throated), brown thrasher, hermit thrush, tufted titmouse, cedar waxwing, woodpeckers (downy, hairy, pileated, and red-bellied), and Carolina wren.

re: "I've been using it to kill poison ivy in my yard for years now. It seems to do the job."

If it's working, why do you still have poison ivy?

I suspect it's killing the visible part of the plant but not the root.

I've read that to kill waxy leafed plants with spray, you need to first treat them the way clo treats babies and beat them with a stick. No, really. You have to bruise and tear the leaves or the wax repels the poison.

BTW, despite her fondness for abortion, clo doesn't really beat babies. She does starve them and consequently isn't allowed to babysit anymore - but that's a long story she should probably tell you about herself. [I am not making this up. Ask her.]
