I know exactly what you mean.
When I was a kid, a club I belonged to had an all-night bowling party that I was looking forward to. Before it started, I played frisbee in the back yard with my brother and managed to slam my hand into a cactus.
I knew the cactus had thorns, but I didn't know about the little stickers. More than a hundred had to be pulled out with tweezers. Most were so small that I needed a magnifying glass to even see them.
I was late to the party but I did go. I remember my hand was a little swollen, but at least all the stickers were out.

I just loaded up a trash bag with cactus.
I throw out one bag a week in my trash bin.
This is spineless cactus so I cannot touch
it. It has stickers so small that I have
to use a magnifier to see them. It is
amazing how much this stuff spreads. Any
of it that touches ground, puts out roots.
BTW, I can only put about a third of a bag
or it is too heavy to lift.
