I don't think it is all fake.
The fact that most of the companies I own still pay
dividends suggest Professor Trots might be right.
(Real companies making real profits tend to redistribute
some of those profits to the share holders in the form of
dividends. No profits and, eventually, the dividend disappears.
Instead, a few of my companies have actually increased the
dividends. :-)
