Why Aren't Republicans in Favor of Medicare for all?
by Thom Harmann
Republicans got one thing right during their failed attempt to repeal Obamacare: Americans DO want more choice.
So why aren't they getting behind Bernie Sanders as he pushes for the one thing that can give Americans real choice -- Medicare-for-all?
In the wake of the utter failure of Trumpcare, Vermont Senator Bernie Sanders has announced that he will soon introduce a bill to create a single-payer, Medicare-for-all healthcare system right here in the US:
"We have got to have the guts to take on the insurance companies and the drug companies and move forward toward a 'Medicare for all,' single-payer program and I'll be introducing legislation shortly to do that."
Republicans are all about choice, so shouldn't they get behind Medicare for all?
It widely expands the choice that we all have as consumers and we don't have to deal with that choice that we have right now of "do I want the plan that I have to pay $5,000 in deductibles or the plan that I have to pay $10,000 in deductibles or the plan where they don't cover me if I get cancer because I already had it once before?"
