and when military action was needed, they wanted it debated and authorized by Congress.

...debating and getting authorization from congress? Hell just invite ISIS to sit in on the meetings so they know where to be away from and what sort of defenses they will need. Ya can't trust half of congress and when they get to blabbing their jaws it won't be long before somebody files suit in the ninth circus court and an injuction is issued cause a bombing might violate the civil rights of some asshole who would kill every man woman and child in the united states if they had the capability.

Every American condemns the atrocities in Syria, and we cannot help but be shaken by the images of innocent women and children dying. It is also true that often in foreign policy, things are not as simple as they appear, and actions often have consequences well beyond the obvious.

It is for this very reason that the Founders wanted a deliberate, thoughtful foreign policy, and when military action was needed, they wanted it debated and authorized by Congress.
