re: "Here's the problem with minimum wage."

Nobody is going to pay workers more than they are worth. Not for long, anyway.

The problem with the minimum wage is that it is not a requirement for employers to pay poorly skilled workers a certain amount, but a requirement for employers to not hire or retain poorly skilled workers at all. Applicants who are not worth $15/hour - and that includes a LOT of people - will simply be unemployable. There will be that many more clos in the world.

Gold is $1,581/oz today. When it hits $2,000, it will be up 26.5%. Let's see how long that takes. - De 3/11/2013 - ANSWER: 7 Years, 5 Months

Not only is this a horrible idea because it is market forces that should dictate wages. In other words, competition for workers generally drives up the starting wage.

Everyone gets hung up with this term "minimum".

NOBODY I knew of ever hired people at the so called Federal Minimum wage. WHY?

Because you could not get anyone worth anything to come work for you day in and out. Cant say that I blame folks.

Here's the problem with minimum wage.

AT this ridiculous level, it now becomes the defacto wage and nobody starting to work at an unskilled job is going to ever rise from this. They will be at this rate because this is where people who started before at a starting wage determined by their employer through what the employment market dictated in their area of the country, eventually over time would rise to.
Now there is no room to go anywhere and most employers cannot afford the $15.00 an hour rate.

That's $30,000 a year for those who do not know.

So, most people will now be replaced by robots or automated systems and have NOTHING, much less being paid for working.

Somebody tell Bernie he did not win the election and that Santa Clause DIED when he lost.....
