Zim: Is Michael mann a climate scientist?
(In spite of his credentials I don't think so.)

I have no problem with Theodore Postol being a fine scientist. But, as I recall,
your original premise was that the terrorists were the ones to use sarin. What
you posted, like everything else, has no facts to suggest that the terrorists
were the ones to use sarin.

Makes a good conspiracy theory. But nothing else there.

Kind of like the 'man made global warming'. No actual facts supporting it.
But lots of thieving going on in the name of it.

In the meantime, try chewing on this.

Commentary: Why Assad used chemical weapons

http://www.reuters.com/article/us-syria-chemical-weapons-commentary-idUSKBN17D1PN

In the early hours of April 7, the U.S. military launched a series of missile strikes against an air base in northern Syria, in retaliation for the Syrian regime’s chemical weapons attack against civilians three days earlier.

The strike shows that President Donald Trump is more willing to use military force in Syria than his predecessor, Barack Obama. But it raises another crucial question: Why would Syrian President Bashar al-Assad, whose regime has consolidated control over Syria’s largest cities in the past year and put the rebels on the defensive, risk a new international backlash by using chemical weapons? If he's winning, why would Assad take such a risk?

The answer lies in Assad’s refusal to compromise or offer any significant concessions since the Syrian uprising began in March 2011, and later morphed into a civil war. Assad overplayed his hand this time, after being emboldened by recent statements from White House officials that it was time for Western powers to accept the “political reality” of Assad’s continued dominance. Assad likely decided to test those boundaries, not expecting Trump to respond militarily because the U.S. president has made it clear that he sees fighting Islamic State as his highest priority in Syria and Iraq.

. . . . (skip a bunch) . . .

Instead, Assad and his allies formed the “axis of resistance” – Iran, Syria and the Islamist militant groups Hezbollah and Hamas. They boasted that the revolts had proven that they are the true representative of the majority of people in the Arab and Muslim worlds, who for decades had been stifled under regimes that “sold out” to the United States.

. . . .

At the start of the rebellion in 2011, Assad used Islamic militants to destabilize his opponents, as he had done nearly a decade earlier in Iraq. The Syrian regime released hundreds of al Qaeda activists and other militants from its prisons, and they went on to become leaders of Islamic State and other jihadist groups. Many of those militants ended up fighting Assad’s regime, but they also became the focus for Western leaders worried about jihadist attacks in their own countries.

Theodore Postol is Professor of Science, Technology and National Security Policy in the Program in Science, Technology, and Society at MIT. He did his undergraduate work in physics and his graduate work in nuclear engineering at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. After receiving his Ph.D., Dr. Postol joined the staff of Argonne National Laboratory, where he studied the microscopic dynamics and structure of liquids and disordered solids using neutron, x-ray and light scattering, along with computer molecular dynamics techniques. Subsequently he went to the Congressional Office of Technology Assessment to study methods of basing the MX Missile, and later worked as a scientific adviser to the Chief of Naval Operations. After leaving the Pentagon, Dr. Postol helped to build a program at Stanford University to train mid-career scientists to study developments in weapons technology of relevance to defense and arms control policy. In 1990 Dr. Postol was awarded the Leo Szilard Prize from the American Physical Society. In 1995 he received the Hilliard Roderick Prize from the American Association for the Advancement of Science and in 2001 he received the Norbert Wiener Award from Computer Professionals for Social Responsibility for uncovering numerous and important false claims about missile defenses.

This is the guy that did the thorough research on IDLIB and publicly presented it. I read his paper, looked closely at his scientific methodology and data (which is publicly verifiable), and judge his methods and findings to be sound, and scientifically based.

The WHR = The ONLY verifiable 'fact' that has been presented by the White House is that jets from the Airbase that we later attacked, did in fact conduct the conventional bombing raid on IDLIB - which has never been disputed. Facts NOT in evidence are the 'intelligence examination' of 'communication intercepts' of Assad forces - and what exactly was said. Nothing is said about ANY communications intercepts from rebel forces during the same time frame. The videos and photos (very sparse, from unverified locations and individuals) that have been printed in the news media show ONLY SYRIAN WHITE HAT REBELS (ie ISIS rebels)involved in all of this. Given the frequent use of 'staged events', well documented, by muslim terrorists, we have no way of verifying if those photo docs occurred in IDLIB, and are of the few bodies (? two so far?) that have been verified by reputable forensics to have been subjected to 'organophosphate' poisoning - with similar/consistent chemical signature to sarin. NOTE: Sarin itself is not actually detected in these post mortem tests because the body breaks down 'actual sarin' very rapidly.

Who are the REPUTABLE NEWS SOURCES that are confirming that Assad did the Sarin attack ? Fox, Brietbart ? Those are hardly 'uninterested' parties - nor are the NYT, LATIMES, and other FAUX news services. Warhawks - both neo-cons and liberals are in abundance.

The CIA ? Reputable ? Hardly - they have consistently lied to the citizens of the USA.

The Military Intelligence - more trustworthy - but the only facts they have been able to verify are the flight paths of the jets that provably conducted, de minima, a conventional bombing run.

An INVESTIGATION is in order - but it is too late for that. Video evidence already exists that on the ground evidence has been heavily tampered with.
