In 2013 Governor Sam Brownbeck of Kansas signed a law allowing hospital patients, including those confined to psychiatric wards, to carry guns. But now, four years later, after hospital staffs complained about this, he's ordering the state (and thus the taxpayers) to provide security guards and metal detectors to make sure that handguns weren't being taken into the hospitals by staff or visitors.

This says it all....

UP IN ARMS
Guns Banned From Trump’s NRA Speech

The Secret Service on Thursday said no guns will be allowed at President Trump’s speech at the National Rifle Association on Friday in Atlanta. “Individuals determined to be carrying firearms will not be allowed past a predetermined outer perimeter checkpoint, regardless of whether they possess a ticket to the event,” the agency said in a statement.

While open-carry is legal in Georgia with a permit, the Secret Service has the right to ban guns from sites visited by the president under federal law, and it’s common for guns to be prohibited at events where the president is speaking.

It remains to be seen whether the avid gun lovers due to attend will welcome the move, however. At other events held for the NRA’s annual conference, “lawfully carried firearms” will be allowed, the NRA said on its website.
