...the normal reaction to a crisis by government is to create a new agency or bureaucracy to provide jobs for thousands of friends, relatives and major contributors to political slush funds. The last thing they ever want to do is solve the problem, therefore eliminating their need. Once created, any agency or bureaucracy develops it's own goals of survival and growth.
Liberals are like a "Slinky". Totally useless, but somehow ya can't help but smile when you see one tumble down a flight of stairs!
A Big, Intrusive, Tyrannical Government (BInTyGo!) doesn't need to publicly set up a new bureaucracy to do any of those things, so that's somewhat bogus.
I didn't like the implementation of DHS, but he wasn't bad for a Dim (and didn't sweat much for a fat girl).
